Theodora Bachelor may have been trapped in a loveless marriage to a rich man but her heart was held by a poor but dashing artist. Caught up in a social maelstrom that included fraud, adultery and even murder, Teddy became the subject of a series of portraits drawn by her lover in the early part of the century. These paintings change her life—along with the lives of her husband and lover—and are the impetus for a multi-faceted story chronicled in The Bachelor Portraits, written by James Kruger of Santa Cruz.
James Kruger's new book is published by Vantage Press of New York and has been stocked by Bookworks Aptos, according to the author, who was a longtime newspaperman with the Santa Cruz Sentinel and the San Jose Mercury News.
